With PC sales on the rise, Advanced Micro Devices Inc. late Monday began shipping a new generation of gaming cards and motherboards for fall — but boasting the world’s fastest gaming card could attract some attention and sales.

CEO Lisa Su spoke to an audience in Austin, Texas during a presentation streamed on YouTube. “With Zen 4 Core, it’s the world’s fastest processor for gaming and content creation.”
“And with the new AM5 platform, it brings the most advanced technologies for I/O and memory. It also brings our commitment to multi-year roadmap support to 2025 and beyond.”
AMD says the gaming cards will be available from September 27.
The top-of-the-line Ryzen 9 7950x lists for $699, the Ryzen 9 7900x for $549, the Ryzen 7 7700x for $399, and the low-end Ryzen 5 7600x for $299.
The last time AMD announced a new product generation with 7-nanometer chips was in 2020, shortly before the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic.
AMD kicks off the AM5 socket platform with four new motherboards: AMD X670 Extreme and X670 for overclockers, AMD B650E for performance users and B650 for end users.
The motherboards will start at $125, with the X670 chips coming out in September and the B650E and B650 in October.
